International Women's Day 2011

Mar 09 2011 Published by under Uncategorized

International Women's Day is celebrated around the world--sometimes with an official national holiday--on March 8. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the first widespread observance in 1911. Here's a slideshow of the 172 images currently found in the Smithsonian's Women in Science set on Flickr Commons. Click on any picture to be taken to more information about it. I've already shared some of their stories here, and I'll share more in the days remaining for my guest blogging stint, but meanwhile, Happy International Women's Day.

I love these photos - the hairstyles, the pearls, the equipment, the furniture, the eyes of the women looking into the camera...

and FIVE women of color in there.
I also noticed the eyes. I'll have to go to the Flickr site to get more info on the images that passed so quickly.

Yes by all means start now. First of all the housing marekt stinks and there are a lot of people looking for rental. Take the extra time you have to do the basic credit checks and background checks of those interested in renting from you also make sure they are willing to carry their own insurance policy to protect your home (the rental) If they combine coverage with renters insurance they can get the policy cheaper. Don't settle on the first person who meets your requirements take you time and do some checking it will save you BIG headaches later. Good Luck.
